Unable to create an RCFC link due to incompatible RCFC protocol or uninitialized ports

Symptom

HPE SSMC displays an error message stating that it is unable to create RCFC link between the selected systems. The OS might be incompatible or the RCFC ports are not initialized.

NOTE:

RCFC ports are supported in HPE Primera OS 4.1 or later and HPE SSMC 3.6.1 or later.

Solution 1
Cause

The HPE Primera OS on the systems might have incompatible RCFC internal protocol.

Action
  1. Verify that both of the systems are running HPE Primera OS 4.1 or later.
    NOTE:

RCFC can link HPE Primera systems, but not an HPE Primera system and an HPE 3PAR system.

    1. On the HPE SSMC main menu, select Systems under STORAGE SYSTEMS.
    2. Select each system and view the current OS version.
    3. If the HPE Primera OS version is not 4.1 or later for either system, upgrade the system.
  2. If both systems have HPE Primera OS 4.1 or later, determine if the RCFC ports are initialized.
Solution 2
Cause

The RCFC ports are not initialized.

Action
  1. Note the N:S:P of the ports you are trying to link.
  2. On the HPE SSMC main menu, select Ports under STORAGE SYSTEMS.
  3. Select one of the ports.
  4. Determine the Port State.
    1. If the port is in a Ready state and both of the systems are running HPE Primera OS 4.1 or later, contact HPE Support.
    2. If the port is in not in a Ready state, select Actions > Initialize.
  5. Repeat these steps for each RCFC port you cannot link.
