Synchronization with synchronous mode Remote Copy groups

Full synchronization

The length of time for a full synchronization to complete depends on the following:
  • Size of the volumes

  • Amount of data in the volumes

  • Size of the replication links

  • Rate of new host writes to the virtual volumes in the group

Resynchronization

In synchronous mode Remote Copy groups, I/O is copied directly from the source Remote Copy group.

When synchronous mode Remote Copy groups are stopped, snapshots of the groups are created. When these Remote Copy groups are restarted, the snapshots are used to resynchronize the source and target groups. The length of time for resynchronization to complete depends on the following:
  • How much data changed on the virtual volumes in the group while the group was suspended

  • Speed of the replication links

  • Rate of new host writes to the virtual volumes in the group
