About Golden Images

A Golden Image is a block-for-block copy of an existing operating system that is generalized to remove any server-specific configuration. It is always in the form of a compressed file.

For deployment, you can customize the image by specifying server-specific configuration using custom attributes. For capture, you can generalize the image by removing any server-specific configuration and obtain an image from an OS volume.

For more information, see Life-cycle of a Golden Image in the HPE Synergy Image Streamer User Guide available in the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Information Library.
