Restore VMFS VM

A VM can be restored from a Copy of datastore or Protection Group.

NOTE:

The VMFS VM restore operation clones the VM from a Snapshot or backup Copy and then migrates (using the VMware vMotion feature) the restored VM to the parent datastore.

If the VM that is being restored is of the size 10GB, then before restoring, ensure that there is a free space of 10GB available on the datastore. If a restore fails, or there are space constraints, you can manually recover the VM using the Clone option and then relocate to the parent location.

NOTE:

Post a VM-level restore operation, the additionally attached VMDKs that are from different datastores are consolidated or copied to VM datastore. The attached datastores are disassociated from the VM.

NOTE:

Post restoring a VM from an Express Protect, the powered off VM is in powered on state.
