Physically connecting the RCFC ports between storage systems

Physically cable the RCFC ports between storage systems. This procedure describes the minimum cabling for a 2-node system to another 2-node system.

TIP:

Create a diagram of the physical Remote Copy configuration.

Prerequisites

  • Installed a supported Fibre Channel HBA with available ports on each node to be used for RCFC for each storage system.

  • Procured an appropriate FC cable based on the speed and distance the connection is intended to support. See the SAN design Reference Guide.

  • Set up an FC SAN infrastructure.

Procedure

Site 1

  1. For the first node (for example, Node 0):
    1. Insert one end of the FC cable on the RCFC port.
    2. Insert the other end of the FC cable into a port on a SAN switch.
  2. For the second node (for example, Node 1):
    1. Insert one end of the FC cable on the RCFC port.
    2. Insert the other end of the FC cable into a port on another SAN switch.

Site 2

  1. Repeat this procedure for Site 2.
