Enable FIPS mode

Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) is a U.S. government standard for approving cryptographic modules. When FIPS mode is enabled for HPE SSMC, the console uses cryptographic modules which are FIPS 140-2 level 1 validated. These modules are operated in compliance with their validation criteria when FIPS mode is enabled.

You can enable and disable the FIPS mode enabled option in the Application panel using the Actions > Preferences > Edit Preferences dialog of the Administrator Console.

NOTE:

The HPE SSMC with FIPS mode enabled does not support HPE Storage OS 3.2.2 MU5 or earlier versions for the storage systems that HPE SSMC manages. However, if the source HPE 3PAR storage systems are running on HPE Storage OS 3.1.2 or 3.1.3, you can use the Online Import Utility (OIU) feature in HPE SSMC to perform migrations. Use the Peer Motion Utility (PMU) to migrate from the other HPE Storage OS versions.

Important: After you enable this option, restart HPE SSMC for the changes to take effect.
