Auto synchronize policy

HPE SSMC 3.4 and later supports the auto synchronize policy.

If you enable the auto synchronize option and perform a failover, the Remote Copy group automatically recovers and synchronizes all the virtual volumes in the group after the failover. The automatic recovery is applicable for both automatic or manual failover scenarios.

Example:

When a site fails, the HPE 3PAR storage system automatically recovers and synchronizes all the virtual volumes in the Remote Copy group after:
  • The system recovery and initialization completes.

  • The Remote Copy communications are re-established.

The Health section in the Remote Copy Groups Overview displays state description as normal even after a failover, due to the internal switchover from source to target.

NOTE:
  • The auto synchronize policy allows you to use the failover command when the remote copy synchronous groups are started and online. You can avoid stopping the synchronous groups before initiating a failover command to the secondary storage system.
  • In an SLD or 3DC Peer Persistence configuration, the policy can be set only on the synchronous target of the Remote Copy group.

You can enable the auto synchronize option in: Data Protection > Remote Copy Groups > Create/Edit Group.
