Virtual Machines screen

A list of VMware virtual machines is displayed in the left pane. Select a virtual machine to display its details in the right pane.

Selecting views

You can click the pin icon () at the top right of the list to open the list View menu. Available list views include a compact view and Summary.) at the top right of the list to open the list View menu. Available list views include a compact view and Summary.

For vVol type Virtual Machines, the default detail view is Overview. Other detail views include VMware vVols, Performance, and Map.

For VMFS type Virtual Machines, the default detail view is Overview. Other detail view include Topology.

Detail pane - Topology view

The detail pane of the Topology view provides the following information for a VMFS virtual machine:
  • Virtualized infrastructure view.

  • Storage objects hierarchy over a period.

  • Performance.

  • Configuration aspects such as health state, saturation, anomalies, and outliers.

You can pin and unpin the various components in Topology view on the Virtual Machines screen. To view a more relevant data for a particular component, pin the same to the screen. After pinning the component, the other components which are not directly connected to the pinned component are removed from the view. To view the components that are hidden, either click the pin icon () again to unpin or click the Reset link at the top of the view.

You can use the and the icons on the top right to zoom in and zoom reset. Also, you can click + and then drag the mouse pointer on the desired time duration.

Filtering and sorting

You can change the display of items by selecting a filter or by sorting on a column heading.
