Collecting support data

You can send on-demand support data to HPE support team for the storage systems that are calling home. The support team uses the data for troubleshooting issues in the customer environment. You can monitor the task progress in the Activity screen. To trigger support data collection and send the data to HPE remote support team, do the following:

Procedure
  1. On the main menu, select Storage Systems > Systems.
  2. On the list pane, select the storage system, and then click Collect support data in the Actions menu.

    The Collect Support Data dialog opens.

  3. In the dialog, select your choices for the required setting. You can select one or more options from the available selections.
    Health data:

    You can filter the data collection based on the selection of the type of health data:

    • CLI data

    • Node data

    • TOC data

    Performance data:

    You can filter the data collection based on the selection of the type of performance data:

    • Default

    • Comprehensive

    You can enter the number of iterations and time interval at which you want to collect the data.

    Existing files

    The option enables you to collect files that are already available on the storage system. The health data and performance data options generate files using specific commands, which are then collected.

    Application core files:

    Collects the core files from the storage system.

    System crash dumps:

    Collects crash dumps from the storage systems.

  4. When you have completed your choices, click Collect to start the action and close the dialog, or click Cancel if you are not sure about the action.

    The action triggers collection of the requested files. The collected data is sent to HPE support team.
