Create Virtual File Server

You can hover over fields to display tooltips.

You can select the Advanced options check box at the top of the dialog to specify Deployment Nodes, Data Retention Policy, and File Access Audit Settings.

General

Select the storage system and enter a name for the virtual file server.

Storage Allocation Settings

By default, you can specify the common provisioning group for the virtual file server.

Tip: If you prefer to specify a file provisioning group, select the Advanced options check box at the top of the dialog. Then select the FPG option on the Storage Allocation Settings panel.

Networking

A list of available IP addresses is displayed. If there are no existing IP addresses, or you want to enter a new IP address, click Add and follow the instructions on the dialog that opens.

Antivirus Settings

This panel includes choices for Scan Policy and Vendor Information. To specify your choices, click the expand icons ().).

Deployment Nodes

Tip: If you have chosen a common provisioning group, you can select the Advanced options check box at the top of the dialog to specify the deployment controller nodes.

Data Retention Policy

The data retention policy for the virtual file server to be created is disabled by default. You can choose the mode as either Enterprise or Compliance, once you enable the data retention policy.

Important: If you enable the data retention policy and create the virtual file server, you cannot later disable the policy.

File Access Audit Settings

This panel includes choices for audit log management, policy, and SMB events. To specify your choices, click the expand icons ().).

When you have completed your choices, click Create to start the action and close the dialog.
