Start Peer Motion (other)

Important: The action creates an activity that migrates selected objects from legacy 3PAR or non-3PAR storage systems to destination storage systems that are in a storage federation.

General

To select the objects to migrate (hosts, host sets, virtual volumes, or virtual volume sets), click Select and follow the instructions on the dialog that opens.

Enable the Email on completion option to send an email notification to the recipients upon completion of the Peer motion task.

Peer Motion Settings

The virtual volumes will be migrated to the destination storage system and common provisioning group that you select.

  • If only one destination storage system and common provisioning group are available, they are automatically selected.

  • When multiple destinations are available,—and you have already decided on the storage system and common provisioning group to use—you can select them. Or to have a destination automatically selected, you can click Recommend destination.

  • To migrate a specified volume, enable the Migration only selected volumes option.

  • You can enable the volume set option which automatically enables the host set option also. Specify the volume set and host set names in the respective fields. These settings are available only for a non-3PAR storage system.

  • You can select multiple Remote Copy groups and trigger the peer motion operation. Select the Remote Copy groups from the same source storage system. After you complete the peer motion action, the Remote Copy groups undergoing migration is created at the destination. Sync the Remote Copy groups on the Remote Copy source/primary storage system.

Virtual Volume Settings

To display the virtual volumes in the data migration, select the Edit virtual volume settings check box.

To change properties of a destination virtual volume, click its edit icon () and follow the instructions on the dialog that opens.) and follow the instructions on the dialog that opens.

To see virtual volume details, click the expand icons ().).

Virtual Volume Set Settings

To display the virtual volume sets in the data migration, select the Edit virtual volume set settings check box. To change properties of a destination virtual volume set, click its edit icon () and follow the instructions on the dialog that opens.) and follow the instructions on the dialog that opens.

To create a destination virtual volume set for the data migration, click Create and follow the instructions on the dialog that opens.

When you have completed your choices, click Start to start the action and close the dialog.
