Creating snapshot (for app volume sets)

You can hover over fields to display tooltips.

To navigate to App Volume Sets screen and create a snapshot for an app volume set, do the following:

Procedure
  1. On the main menu, select Block Persona > App Volume Sets.
  2. Click Create snapshot on the Actions menu.

    The Create Snapshot dialog opens.

  3. Enter or select your choices for required and optional settings.

    General

    System:

    Name of the storage system.

    Domain:

    The domain in which the app volume set is created.

    Parent app volume set:

    Name of the app volume set.

    App volume set snapshot policy:

    Snapshot policy assigned to the app volume set.

    Create snapshot:

    You can select either Once or Assign policy option for snapshot creation. You can choose Assign poilcy option only if a policy is not assigned already to the parent virtual volume.

    Snapshot name pattern:
    You can select three patterns for the snapshot names:
    • Parent volume and time stamp

    • Parent volume and time in seconds since epoch

    • Custom

    Important: If you are creating a recurring schedule pattern, Hewlett Packard Enterprise recommends that you carefully consider your choice of the snapshot name. Learn more: Naming snapshots.

    Snapshot name:

    Snapshot name using the selected snapshot name pattern.

    Schedule pattern:

    You can select either Once now or Once later option.

    To create a snapshot now, accept the default schedule pattern Once now on the Schedule panel. To create a snapshot at another time, select Once later. Learn more: Specifying schedule patterns.

    Additional Settings

    • Snapshot

      Volume ID

      Volume ID of the virtual volume in the app volume set. The value is assigned automatically.

      Retention time

      Enable or disable the retention time option. Enabling retention time prevents the virtual volume from deletion before the specific time.

      Expiration time

      Enable or disable the expiration time option. Enabling expiration time automatically removes virtual volume after a specific time.

      Comments

      Any additional comments on the snapshot.

  4. When you have completed your choices, click Create to start the action and close the dialog; otherwise click Cancel if you are not sure about the action.
