System recovery of HPE StoreEasy Storage system

Preparation

To prepare for an unlikely event where the sixth generation HPE StoreEasy 1000 Storage system must be restored to its factory default state, make sure that a recovery image is available. A recovery image is available on the System Recovery DVD (if ordered). Save the downloaded image file to a DVD and create a recovery image. For more information about create download images using DVD, see the creating a system recovery USB drive using the System Recovery DVD

The data on the HPE StoreEasy Storage system must be backed up regularly to restore your data after a system recovery.

Recovery

Before a system recovery, you can replace existing physical drives. If you replace any drives, make sure that the replacement drives do not contain a logical drive partition. Reboot the HPE StoreEasy Storage system and select F10 for Intelligent Provisioning, and then select the Smart Storage Administrator to review current provisioning on the drives. Remove any old logical partitions from the replacement drives for the OS. For instructions on removing logical partitions, see the Smart Storage Administrator online help.

WARNING:
  • All data on the original OS logical drive is erased during the recovery process.

  • If you are restoring to a system that shares data and OS partition on the same drives, do not remove any partitions because it can result in data loss or corruption.
