Threshold overview

A threshold is a value that HPE StoreEasy uses to identify when space consumption reaches a certain limit. The threshold is used as a trigger for executing customizable actions—for example, when consumption is nearing or has reached the set limit. Thresholds are optional but are useful to warn users when they are nearing their allocated storage limits. You can set multiple thresholds for a directory quota and different actions to generate. At least one threshold action is required. While you can set multiple thresholds for a directory quota, it is not necessary to create a threshold for every percent change.

For example, if the quota capacity limit is 100 MiB, you can set a threshold at 85% and an email trigger action to send a warning to the user. When 85 MiB has been reached, an email is sent to the specified user. You can also set another threshold at 95% utilization with an email trigger action and an event log trigger action. When 95 MiB has been reached, an email is sent to the specified user and an event log entry is made.

The threshold and the types of actions to generate are defined in the directory quota template.
