Physical drives overview

Physical drives are the most granular physical component in the HPE StoreEasy system architecture. Physical drives are tangible pieces of hardware that plug into a drive enclosure. The main purpose is to provide persistence of data across power cycles.

The physical drive types HPE StoreEasy supports are hard disk drives (HDD) and solid-state drives (SSD) in either large form factor (LFF) and small form factor (SFF) as standard storage options, depending on model.

The physical drives are added to the empty slots in the drive enclosures called drive bays. These physical drives are grouped as data drives and spare drives to create an array.
