Fan Locations
CAUTION:
To avoid damage to HPE StoreEasy 1660 and 1860 storage systems:
Install fan blanks in fan bays 1 and 2 in a single-processor configuration.
Do not operate the system for extended periods of time if the optimal number of fans are not installed. The system might still boot with the existing fans.

For a single-processor configuration, six fans are required for redundancy. A fan failure or missing fan causes a loss of redundancy. A second fan failure or missing fan causes an orderly shutdown of the system.
The HPE StoreEasy 1660 and 1860 storage systems support variable fan speeds. The fans operate at minimum speed until a temperature change requires a fan speed increase to cool the system.
