HPE Telco Blueprint validated combinations for expansion kit

This topic provides information on the expansion kit combinations validated with the specific Virtual Infrastructure Manager offerings.

Compute expansion

The following table provides the validated combination for the scale up and scale out for compute expansion:

Scale up - within the rack

You can scale up to 20 computes:

  • Addition of 2 computes is automated

  • Addition of 18 computes is manual

You can scale up to 8 computes

  • Addition of 2 computes is automated

  • Addition of 6 computes is manual

Scale out - across the rack

You can scale out to 24 computes. This is a manual procedure.

You can scale out to 12 computes. This is a manual procedure.

NOTE:

With the existing number of controllers, Red Hat OpenStack Platform supports compute expansion up to 300 computes.

Red Hat Ceph

Depending on the storage capacity requirements, you can scale out (across the rack) up to 18 storage nodes in one 42U rack.

HPE 3PAR StoreServ 4-node 8440

  • Drive shelves: 38 drive enclosures maximum, each drive enclosure can hold 24 drives.

  • Maximum number of HDDs: 960

  • Maximum number of SSDs: 480

  • Maximum raw capacity: 4000TiB

  • Maximum raw capacity (SSD only): 3351 TiB

  • Maximum usable file capacity: 10.8 PiB

HPE Storage All Flash Array AF60

  • Drive shelves: Maximum number of drive shelves - two. Each expansion shelf can install 48 drives.

  • Capacity: Up to 553 TB raw , 2073 TB effective capacity
