Installation status is Failed

Symptom

Installation status is displayed as Failed

Action
  1. Run the following command:
nps show --data servers --node <iLO IP of failed server>

Use the temp_ip available in field state from output of the command.

This is the VIM-PXE IP address which will be assigned to the host.

  2. Ping the temp_ip.
If there is no response to the ping:
    • Login to the iLO console.

    • Check if the operating system is installed.

If the operating system is not installed, do the following:

  1. Log in to the data switch.
  2. Verify for peer connectivity using the following command:
    net show clag

If the clag is not formed, verify if the installed cumulus version is same as described in the HPE Telco Edge E4 Compatibility Matrix.

  3. If the cumulus version is incorrect (needs a upgrade or downgrade), do the following to continue with the image service:
    1. Install the desired version of the cumulus operating system on both the data switches again.
    2. Run the switch automation again.

For more information, see Deploying switch configuration.

    3. Delete the image service pod using the following command:
nps baremetal -a delete -nos <nos_type>
      Where,
      • nos is the Network Operating System.

      • <nos_type> supported is cumulus.

    4. Deploy image service

For more information, see Deploying Image Service.

    5. Reboot the failed server.

While booting press F12 for onetime pxeboot. Wait for some time for the OS to get installed on the baremetal node.

    6. Verify the baremetal installation status again using the following command:
      nps show --service baremetal
