Failure during creation of ignition file

Symptom

During the creation of the ignition files, the following error messages are displayed: IGNITION_FILES_CREATION_FAILED or NA

Action
  1. To identify the root cause of the issue, log in to the NPS toolkit VM, and analyze the following log files of the installer:

    • /var/nps/logs/rhocp/rhocp-cli-<date>.log

    • /var/nps/logs/rhocp/nps-rhocp-cli-ansible.log

  2. Resolve the issue.
  3. Clean up the install directory, if ignition files are recreated after the analysis.
    1. Clean up the /var/nps/vim/install_dir directory for the NPS toolkit VM by removing id_rsa.pub, id_rsa, install-config.yaml, and install_dir.
    2. Clean up the /var/nps/ISO folder by removing id_rsa.pub, id_rsa, install-config.yaml, and install_dir. Ensure that the artifacts are not deleted from the /var/nps/ISO folder.
  4. Do one of the following:
    1. If the issue is due to the individual command failure, rerun the following ignition file creation command: 
      nps deploy -s rhocp -a create-ignition-files
    2. If the issue is due to the nps autodeploy command, rerun the following command: 
      nps autodeploy
