Control plane

The HPE Telco Core Blueprint control plane consists of the following Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (RHOCP) nodes:
  • Bootstrap node

  • Master node

The control plane is composed of master nodes or machines that manages the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform cluster. The control plane machines also manage workloads on the compute or worker machines.

During installation, one of the servers identified as a worker node is designated as a bootstrap node to create the master node. Once the master node is created, the bootstrap node server is redesignated as a worker node. The bootstrap node creates master machines that act as the control plane. The control plane creates the compute or worker machines. The bootstrap node is destroyed as soon as the master machine is created.

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.3 is supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS 4.3. Every control plane machine in an OpenShift Container Platform 4.3 cluster uses Red Hat Enterprise Linux CoreOS (RHCOS) as the operating system.
