Configuring the IRF mode
About IRF modes
The device supports the following IRF modes:
light—Specifies light IRF mode. This mode supports a maximum of two member devices for an IRF fabric. In this mode, the device requires less reboot time than normal IRF mode when changing from standalone mode to IRF mode.
normal—Specifies normal IRF mode. This mode supports a maximum of four member devices for an IRF fabric. In this mode, the device requires more reboot time than light IRF mode when changing from standalone mode to IRF mode.
Configuration restrictions and guidelines
For a successful IRF merge, make sure all IRF member devices operate in the same IRF mode.
Before changing the IRF mode, make sure the number of member devices does not exceed the upper limit for the target IRF mode.
Make sure no non-default MDCs are created. The irf mode light command and the mdc command are mutually exclusive.
For the mode change to take effect, save the configuration and reboot the device.
