DHCP operation configuration example

Network requirements

As shown in Figure 9, configure a DHCP operation to test the time required for Switch A to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server (Switch B).

Figure 9: Network diagram

Configuration procedure

# Create a DHCP operation.

<SwitchA> system-view
[SwitchA] nqa entry admin test1
[SwitchA-nqa-admin-test1] type dhcp

# Specify the DHCP server address 10.1.1.2 as the destination address.

[SwitchA-nqa-admin-test1-dhcp] destination ip 10.1.1.2

# Enable the saving of history records.

[SwitchA-nqa-admin-test1-dhcp] history-record enable
[SwitchA-nqa-admin-test1-dhcp] quit

# Start the DHCP operation.

[SwitchA] nqa schedule admin test1 start-time now lifetime forever

# After the DHCP operation runs for a period of time, stop the operation.

[SwitchA] undo nqa schedule admin test1

# Display the most recent result of the DHCP operation.

[SwitchA] display nqa result admin test1
NQA entry (admin admin, tag test1) test results:
Send operation times: 1 Receive response times: 1
    Min/Max/Average round trip time: 512/512/512
Square-Sum of round trip time: 262144
Last succeeded probe time: 2011-11-22 09:56:03.2
  Extended results:
    Packet loss ratio: 0%
    Failures due to timeout: 0
Failures due to internal error: 0
Failures due to other errors: 0

# Display the history records of the DHCP operation.

[SwitchA] display nqa history admin test1
NQA entry (admin admin, tag test1) history records:
  Index Response Status Time
  1 512 Succeeded 2011-11-22 09:56:03.2

The output shows that it took Switch A 512 milliseconds to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.
