Running the SQL/MX Health Check tool

Before you attempt a system upgrade or fallback, and before attempting a DOWNGRADE command, it is advisable to run the SQL/MX Health Check tool. The tool verifies SQL/MX metadata and file labels on a system for internal inconsistencies and optionally also for compatibility with a target release.

The SQL/MX Health Check tool is available as a separate PAX file T1056OSS.

Downloading and running the SQL/MX Health Check tool

  1. Download the T1056OSS PAX file from Scout on the NonStop eServices portal
  2. Copy the PAX file to any Guardian location on the target system.

  3. Use COPYOSS utility to install the contents of the PAX file. The contents of the PAX file are installed in the standard /usr/tandem/sqlmx/bin location.

  4. Set up the required CLASSPATH and JDBC/MX T2 driver environment settings.

  5. Add /usr/tandem/sqlmx/bin directory to the PATH environment variable.

  6. Run SqlMxHealthCheck from an OSS prompt.

For more information about the SQL/MX Health Check tool and error messages and conditions, see the latest versions of SQL/MX Reference Manual and the SQL/MX Messages Manual respectively.

Before using the SQL/MX Health Check tool, make sure to set the PATH for the SqlMxHealthCheck file and supported Java version and JDBC/MX T2 driver in the environment settings.
