Device profiles

Device profiles are used to dynamically assign port attributes based on the type of devices connected, without having to create a RADIUS infrastructure. You can map device profiles to device groups. A device group contains various match criteria, which can be obtained from multiple sources, such as LLDP and CDP. Device profiles contain port attributes to be assigned to the port when a connected device matches a device group.

Device profiles are applied on interfaces that are configured for 802.1X authentication or MAC authentication, as long as there are no authenticated clients on that interface.

Device profile functionality is independent of port security being enabled on an interface.
