neighbor password

Syntax

neighbor {<IP-ADDR>|<PEER-GROUP-NAME>}
     password {ciphertext | plaintext} <PASSWORD>

no neighbor {<IP-ADDR>|<PEER-GROUP-NAME>} password

Description

Enables message digest5 (MD5) authentication on a TCP connection between two BGP neighbors. When the password is applied to a peer-group, all the neighbors that are part of peer-group inherit the configured setting.

The neighbor connection must be reset using clear ip bgp to allow this configuration to take effect.

The no form of this command disables this feature.
