OSPFv3 redistribution of loopback addresses

When you assign an IPv6 address to a loopback interface on a routing switch, the address is listed as connected in the route table on that routing switch and is advertised to neighbors as described in the table below:

Route redistribution disabled

Loopback not assigned to an OSPFv3 area

The loopback address is advertised to neighbors as an OSPFv3 External route.

The loopback address is not advertised to neighbors.

Loopback is assigned to an OSPFv3 area

The loopback address is advertised to neighbors in the same area as an OSPFv3 Intra-Area route. For all other areas it is advertised as an OSPFv3 Inter-Area route.
